JOB SUMMARY:
In the absence of a Custodial Supervisor, oversees custodial staff in the daily care and improvement of equipment, buildings and furnishings. Plans, schedules and delegates work of custodial staff. Provides ongoing training and oversight of staff. Stays abreast of custodial standards and practices, buildings, and general knowledge of all buildings maintained on or near campus. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Custodial Operations:
In the absence of a Custodial Supervisor, oversees custodial, grounds keeping staff in the daily care and improvement of equipment, buildings and furnishings. Performs custodial preventative maintenance for university buildings and custodial equipment. Prepares various reports for safety, personnel and general operations. Implements new methods of cleaning using chemicals and equipment as approved. Confers with staff and management to resolve problems.
30% - Essential - Inspecting and Compliance:
Inspects zone for quality and established housekeeping standards of cleanliness and sanitation. Performs initial security checks of building upon arrival. Recognizes and reports hazardous materials and chemicals. Informs housing dispatch and zone manager of any maintenance problems and breakdowns. Maintains accurate records and documentation of activities in zone. Complies with the safety rules and guidelines of OSHA, Risk Management, and the Environmental Safety Office of Clemson University.
10% - Essential - Inventory Management and Equipment Maintenance:
Prepares and maintains inventory of equipment, chemicals, supplies and personal protective equipment used by staff. Updates inventory and recycling report for monthly. Controls and schedules equipment and supply usage with zone.
10% - Essential - Personnel Management:
Completes and approves personnel action forms for staff. Enters and approves electronic pay and personnel transactions in Kronos. Completes annual employee performance evaluations. Selects and chairs interview committee for hiring of entry level employees. Provides input for corrective action process and works with to employees to facilitate the completion of disciplinary period.
10% - Essential - Training and On Call Support:
Completes on the job training and related educational instruction as outlined in the Custodial training program. Completes University required trainings (online and in person). Responds to emergency, weekend, and snow callbacks.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School Diploma or Equivalent and custodial, groundskeeping or maintenance experience directly related to the area of employment.
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Associate's Degree
Work Exp 7+ years
Leadership Academy Certificate or equivalent certification; Certification in Custodial Services; Supervisor's Toolkit or equivalent certification.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary: ($ 39,300.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
