JOB SUMMARY:

 

Clemson University's Network Services and Telecommunications Team is looking for a Network Automation Engineer to fulfill the following duties:

  • The Network Automation Engineer provides advanced technical consulting on overall engineering, architecture and operations of a large enterprise network. 
  • Combines technical expertise with strategic thinking to drive network automation initiatives effectively. 
  • Develops technical strategies aligned with the organization's goals. 
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

70% - Essential - Network Automation: 
Serves as subject matter expert. Designs and implements Network Automation workflows using scripting and network automation tools to streamline network operations and improve network performance, efficiency, and monitoring. Works closely with Network Engineering, Network Operations, and System Architecture personnel to identify automation and optimization opportunities aligned with organization objectives and network architecture standards, including IP routing, switching, firewalls, and LAN/WAN architecture.
15% - Essential - Performance and Monitoring: 
Analyzes network efficiency by conducting network tests and running diagnostics. Recommends and assists in finding solutions to recurring network problems. Serves as subject matter expert for all information and/or network systems support areas. Works with CCIT staff, computer consultants and vendors to resolve problems quickly and minimize downtime. Provides on-call support. Participates in on-call rotation. Creates and maintains proper documentation.
10% - Essential - Communication and Representation: 
Maintains good working relationships with stakeholders of Clemson University's network. Serves as point-of-contact for automation questions and issues in construction and maintenance situations. Maintains open communications with management and other university officials during projects.
5% - Essential - Advising and Collaboration: 
Advises leadership on the most strategic uses technology to support Clemson University activities. Stays up-to-date on current automation solutions.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or Related Field 

Work Experience - Experience in computer system development and modification. Relevant experience may be substituted for bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Work Experience - 5+ Years Work Experience. Knowledge of advanced network computing systems hardware and software.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: $ 83,219.00 - $ 139,179.00
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Essential Level 1 employee
Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
