JOB SUMMARY:
Provides technical and scientific support for the horticulture research and Extension program at Edisto Research and Education Center. Manages horticulture-related research projects and demonstrations. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Project Management: Plans and conducts research and demonstration projects for horticulture or other rotational crops. Plants, maintains, harvests, and terminates research and demonstration plots.
20% - Essential - Equipment: Operate and maintain all field equipment needed for establishment, maintenance, harvesting and termination of research and demonstration plots.
15% - Essential - Laboratory Management: Maintains laboratory and all equipment and instruments. Assists and trains students and other workers in laboratory procedures. Processing samples for soil and plant chemical analysis for different experiments as needed.
15% - Essential - Greenhouse Management: Maintains greenhouse and all equipment necessary for greenhouse operation. Coordinate's planting and maintenance of greenhouse plant material and experiments.
10% - Essential - Data Management and Analysis: Collect, organize, and analyze data from field and greenhouse experiments.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field and work experience that is directly related to the
Work Experience - Work experience which is directly related to the job duties.
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - Horticulture, plant and environmental science, agriculture, or related field
Licenses - Willingness to obtain pesticide applicator license (Core and Category 10) in South Carolina.
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary Range: $39,000 - $55,000
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
