JOB SUMMARY:

 

The Senior Manager oversees the daily operations of the LaMaster Dairy Farm, ensuring the health, welfare and productivity of the herd, and the maintenance of farm facilities. The role involves managing staff, coordinating with academic departments for research and educational activities, and maintaining compliance and safety with all facilities in required area. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

20% - Essential - Herd Management: Oversee and facilitate the health, welfare, nutrition, and breeding of the dairy herd. Ensure proper veterinary care and ensure that accurate records are maintained.  Monitor milk yield and implement strategies to improve productivity.
20% - Essential - Staff Supervision: Recruit, train and supervise farm staff.  Oversee and participate in the recruitment and training of student workers. Oversee the scheduling of work shifts to ensure effective operation of the dairy, maintaining high standard of animal welfare, and compliance with safety and animal care protocols.
20% - Essential - Facility Maintenance and Budget Oversight: Ensure that all farm equipment and facilities are properly maintained. Coordinate repairs and upgrades as needed.  Manage the farm¿s budget. Monitor expenses and seek cost-effective solutions.
20% - Essential - Compliance and Data Management:  Oversee and facilitate the maintenance of all required compliance records with the assistance of the Operations Manager.
20% - Essential - Research and Education: Collaborate with university faculty and students on the planning of research projects. Facilitate educational tours and practical learning experiences for students.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education: 1st Bachelor's Degree - Relevant program manager experience; animal science, dairy science, agriculture.
Work Experience: 5+ years dairy farm management. Strong knowledge of dairy cattle health, welfare, nutrition, and breeding. Excellent leadership and communication skills. Ability to work collaboratively with academic staff.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Master's Degree - Animal Science, Dairy Science or related field.
Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree - Animal Science, Dairy Science or related field.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Anticipated Salary Range: $94,800 - $105,000

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Essential Level 2 employee
Required to maintain/resume essential support functions, deliver direct care services, and/or provide recovery support before normal operations resume. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
