JOB SUMMARY:
Performs work as insulator requiring advanced levels of professional skill. Performs installation, repair and preventative maintenance of insulation to campus main utility systems and associated air conditioning refrigeration systems. Provides training and mentorship to less experienced employees. May serve as Lead to maintain adequate workflow. Subject to unscheduled hours and callback as needed. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Insulation:
Insulates and removes (when needed) chilled water piping and equipment, hot water piping, steam piping, condensate piping, refrigeration piping, duct work and associated mechanical equipment. Performs insulation using several material types including but not limited to: polyisocyanurate, Armaflex, fiberglass, calcium silicate for insulation on equipment and piping systems.
25% - Essential - Applications and Mastics:
Understands applications and applies various appropriate mastics to insulation systems. Operates saws, drills, pin-welder and related hand tools. Builds construction-type scaffolding. Reads, modifies and recommends modifications of blueprints. Estimates cost, time and materials of insulation projects. Submits purchase orders based on job request. Performs administrative tasks to document and monitor operational activities. May assign work tasks to ensure adequate workflow. Collaborates with customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
15% - Essential - Training and Mentorship:
Leads, guides, and/or trains others in applicable procedures and techniques. Completes the required training and testing to maintain applicable licensing.
10% - Essential - Safety:
Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices. Complies with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and enforcement of University LOTO & PPE policy. Complies with all EPA/DHEC rules. Promotes positive and productive relationships within and between shops. Removes and disposes of insulation and cleans tools. Maintains a clean and safe work environment.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education: High school diploma or equivalent and general maintenance experience related to the area of employment.
Work Experience: 8+ years of TRADE SPECIFIC EXPERIENCE.

Education: Vocational or Technical Training 1

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range: ($ 47,000.00 - $ 54,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
