JOB SUMMARY:
Assists in conducting agricultural research at the Edisto Research and Education Center (EREC), including crop planting, maintenance and harvesting, crop research and equipment service, repair and management. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
50% - Essential - Equipment Operation:Operates and assists in calibration of planters, sprayers and applicators utilized in research programs and general farm use. Operates equipment that has Precision Agriculture applications such as tractors, sprayers, combines and implements.
25% - Essential - Crop Preparation, Harvesting and Research:Coordinates with research technicians through the farm manager to plan and prepare research plot areas as well as general cropping systems.
15% - Essential - Other:Works with and assists other farm crew members when needed.
10% - Essential - Purchasing and Receiving Inputs:Assists the farm manager with orders needed for farm inputs such as seed, fertilizer, pesticides as well as other items required for general farm production. Arrange for pickup and delivery of supplies in a timely fashion.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - Animal husbandry, agriculture or a related field
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000
Work Experience - 1+ years experience in agricultural research or animal care that is directly related to the area of employment. Work experience may be substituted for the bachelor's degree on a year-for-year basis.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary Range: $37,200 - $47,500
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
