ASSISTANT PROFESSOR- PUBLIC HEALTH SCIENCES
Clemson, SCOne of the country’s most selective public research universities, Clemson University serves a uniquely driven and highly accomplished student body.
Ranked consistently as one of the best national public university by U.S.News & World Report, Clemson is a science- and engineering-oriented college dedicated to teaching, research and service. Founded in 1889, we remain committed both to world-class research and a high quality of life. In fact, 91 percent of our seniors say they’d pick Clemson again if they had it to do over.
Clemson’s retention and graduation rates rank among the highest in the country for public universities. We’ve been named among the best values by Kiplinger magazine in 2013, and SmartMoney in 2012 ranked us No. 7 in student return on investment.
Our beautiful college campus sits on 1,400 acres in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains, along the shores of Hartwell Lake. But we also have research facilities and economic development hubs throughout the state of South Carolina — in Greenville, Greenwood, Columbia and Charleston.
Clemson University’s Department of Public Health Sciences (DPHS) seeks applicants to apply for a tenure-track Assistant Professor position in One Health. “One Health” broadly defined encompasses collaborative, multisectoral, and transdisciplinary approaches with the goal of achieving optimal health outcomes by recognizing the interconnection between people, animals, plants, and their shared environment. This faculty position will join a dynamic group of more than 30 full time departmental faculty who are dedicated to a team science approach and collaboration across departments, colleges, and other partners.
DPHS is one of the fastest growing departments at Clemson University. Within DPHS our faculty disciplines include epidemiology, biostatistics, health informatics, global health, community health promotion and behavior, and health systems and policy. The department offers PhD and MS degrees in Applied Health Research and Evaluation, an MPH degree, a BS in Health Sciences, as well as a Graduate Certificate in Clinical and Translational Research. The department is also home to the Center for Public Health Modeling and Response (PHMR). The mission of PHMR is to develop and utilize data-driven approaches to inform clinical and public health decision-making and assist the ability of health organizations and communities to prepare for, and respond to, public health threats. More information can be found here: https://www.clemson.edu/cbshs/departments/public-health/research/phmr.html.
DPHS is housed within the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences (CBSHS). Interdisciplinary partnerships are encouraged across the CBSHS, which includes the School of Nursing and the Departments of Communication; Parks, Recreation and Tourism Management; Political Science; Psychology; Public Health Sciences; and Sociology, Anthropology, and Criminal Justice. Further, the College is home to Clemson Rural Health, a program focused on transforming health outcomes in rural and underserved communities across the state. Opportunities for partnerships are also encouraged across Clemson University’s other eight colleges: Agriculture, Forestry and Life Sciences; Architecture, Art and Construction; Arts and Humanities; the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business; Education; Engineering, Computing and Applied Sciences; Science; and Veterinary Medicine.
