JOB SUMMARY:
Assists the Director in providing leadership in advising best practices. Assists Director with management of Advising Center day-to-day operations. Works with Director to provide direction for New Freshman and Transfer Orientation efforts for the college. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
35% - Essential - In coordination with Director, provides leadership, direction, and support to Center academic advisors; serves as subject matter expert regarding academic advising best practices; assists with the development, implementation, and managing advising professional development opportunities for the Academic Advising Center. Assist with assigning advisors to students for advising team. Will be responsible for a reduced advising caseload (80-100 students).
35% - Essential - Center Management
Serves as the Assistant Director of the Academic Advising Center. Fields questions from students, advisors, and advisors from other departments/colleges who are experiencing advising-related problems. Utilizes CU-Navigate and other university resources to generate reports on student trends, risk-indicators, and usage data. Will serve as supervisor for Graduate Student positions. Maintains Academic Advising Center website. Assists in recruiting, interviewing, and hiring of academic advisors for the Center. Serves as Director's proxy when unavailable.
20% - Essential - Orientation Programming
In collaboration with Director, leads advising center efforts in orientation preparation and scheduling. Plans, directs, coordinates, and executes activities, advising, and course registration for first year and transfer student orientation sessions. Coordinates college and departmental materials for the virtual orientation platform. Communicates with new students about the virtual orientation components. Provides report on yearly assessment of orientation programs.
10% - Essential - University Service
Member of College of Business Curriculum Committee. Serves on other university committees as assigned by Director. Collaborates and communicates with other University Advising Centers as needed. Assist Director with assessment efforts for the advising center.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - 1st Bachelor's Degree
Work Exp 3+ years in student services
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - 1st Master's Degree

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range: $52,100 - $65,000
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
