JOB SUMMARY:

 

Supports the OTEI team to achieve the OTEI's program and development goals.  Assists in developing and facilitate teaching- related workshops, programs, and initiatives. Consults on teaching. Works directly with teaching faculty and graduate teaching assistants about evidence-based teaching strategies, class session, course design, and assessment strategies of student learning outcomes. Works with the director and other staff to develop and implement programs. Offer workshops and online resources, consult, and research new practices regarding evidence-based teaching methods, effect. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

50% - Essential - Program Development: 
Works with the director and other staff, and in line with OTEI's strategic plan, implements research-based interactive sessions (workshops, seminars, and institute sessions) on instructional practices, session and course design, assignment and test creation, and formative and summative assessments of student learning. As a foundation to this work, reads and summarizes for distribution trends and research in instruction and curriculum design, scholarship of teaching and learning, teaching and learning with technology and new teaching methods.

20% - Essential - Teaching Resources: 
Develops resources for the improvement of teaching, dissemination of research-based teaching strategies, assignment, test design, and lesson planning. Creates materials useful across disciplines including text-based, graphic, and video elements. (Creation of sessions useful across disciplines is a first priority such as (general education support). Develops products that includes a wide range of discipline-specific examples and of educational research and disseminates throughout the University by various methods: workshops, institutes, seminars, written pieces, audio/video--individually and in collaboration with others.
20% - Essential - Consultation: 
Consults on demand with instructional faculty that are formative, solution-focused and research-based. Work with faculty members and academic departments to support and improve teaching, course design, curricular design, and assessment. Consultation can include individual meetings, analysis of needs and requests, LMS analysis, analysis of teaching materials (assignments, syllabi etc), and analysis of student evaluation of courses. Conducts classroom observations and student group evaluations for formative feedback. Supports growing OTEI initiative by working with student groups to support student-teacher partnerships on teaching and learning issues in collaboration with program chairs and other administrators and unit leaders, on curricular development.
10% - Essential - Outreach: 
Participates in ongoing work such as research and teaching-related opportunities. Serves as a member in campus-wide committees and professional groups (regional or national) related to instructional design and development and other areas of expertise as assigned. Submits / presents work at conferences.
 

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Master's Degree in Education or another directly related field and experience in curriculum development.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education - Doctoral / Professional Degree
Work Experience - 1+ years in university-level teaching (either cumulative or consecutive) minimum. STEM areas broadly defined.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: $ 52,100.00 - $ 74,466.63
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
