JOB SUMMARY:

 

Implements and manages professional duties related to the undergraduate degree program in the Department of Chemistry. Assists and advises students. Directs orientation programs. Serves as primary point-of-contact for registration. Trains faculty and staff in advisement of students. Serves as Departmental schedule and room coordinator. Maintains academic records. Provides administrative support. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

30% - Essential - Program Coordination: Plans and manages all orientation programs for undergraduates. Trains faculty and staff on advising students. Serves as primary point-of-contact for enrollment. Advises students on academics, registration and degree progress. Stays abreast of policies on class scheduling, room scheduling, registration and student progress.  Represents the department on the college advising committee.
30% - Essential - Schedule and Room Coordination: Plans and initiates online registration. Initiates registration system to determine class schedule, room use and lab exemptions. Advises Chair and Director of Undergraduate Program of classes needed. Builds master class schedule.  Point of contact for all college and departmental advisors for registration issues during new student orientations and registration.  
25% - Essential - Recordkeeping and Reporting: Initiates and maintains academic records for undergraduates. Maintains advisory files. Serves as primary backup for graduate student services coordinator. Prepares reports for the Commission on Higher Education, Accreditation Board for Engineering and Technology and other requesting agencies. Compiles data on enrollment trends.
15% - Essential - Administrative Support: Provides staff support to the Director of Undergraduate Studies and General Chemistry and other committees.  Provides administrative support for the General Chemistry common exams and Organic Chemistry common exams.  Provides support for printing and collating exams materials, scheduling exams and rooms.  Schedules students for and administers make-up exams. Provides staff support for Summer Undergraduate Research Program.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  1st Bachelor's Degree - experience in student services programs
Work Experience 1+ years

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Acts as Lead - Acts as a Lead by guiding the work of others who perform essentially the same work.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: $ 39,000.00 - $ 53,000.00
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
