JOB SUMMARY:
Assist in the implementation of the University health and safety program. Provides comprehensive health and safety program support and services. Services may include general inspections, Industrial Hygiene monitoring, hazard and exposure assessments, and training. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Industrial Hygiene Program
Supports IH Programs such as Respiratory Protection, Hearing Conservation, Ergonomics, and Hazard Communication. Assists with hazard assessments to identify potential exposures including IH monitoring, noise assessments, and Indoor Air Quality investigations, and develops reports. Works closely with other departments including facilities and maintenance to provide consultations for controlling identified hazards.
35% - Essential - Safety Program
Develops and implements programs to provide technical support and compliance assistance for OSHA General Industry and Construction. Programs and services include but are not limited to shop safety, ergonomics, machine safety, forklift and mobile equipment safety, electrical safety including high voltage and arc flash, emergency preparedness, crane safety, fall protection and confined spaces. Develops and delivers a variety of OSHA compliance and safety training as needed. May assist in emergency planning and support including safety officer responsibilities university events.
20% - Essential - Administrative Support
Manages outlook email and calendar and other support administrative functions to include program documentation. Provides assistance for the OES Software Management system. Perform other duties as assigned by the Occupational Safety and Health Manager.
5% - Essential - Reporting
Compiles and submits quarterly and annual reports. Maintains required documentation and records.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent - Experience in environmental health programs or radiological health, A bachelor's degree in the natural or physical sciences, mathematics, public health, engineering or a related technical field may be substituted for the required work experience.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Safety related Bachelor's degree
Experience in a college of university
OSHA 501 General Industry Trainer
OSHA 500 Construction Industry Trainer
RESPONSIBILITIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.

No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range ($ 52,100.00 - $ 55,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Essential Level 1 employee
Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
