JOB SUMMARY:
Assist with the management of pre-award functions for the College of Agriculture, Forestry, ad Life Sciences (CAFLS). Coordinates grant submission and training for researchers and program staff. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
40% - Essential - Program Management: Assist with the management of the office of pre-award, including workflow and priorities of the pre-award team. Provides guidance to faculty to ensure compliance with Clemson University's mission, programs and objectives.
20% - Essential - Director Support: Assists the Director in developing training materials and curricula for PIs regarding proposal development and grants administration. Provides backup support for the Director regarding sponsored program activities.
20% - Essential - Proposal development: Assists principle investigators (PIs) with preparing grant-in-aid requests. Ensures proposal budgets are calculated correctly and all forms are completed. Ensures that proposal narrative and proposed expenditures comply with Federal, State, and local laws and regulations, agency guidelines, and Clemson University's policies and procedures. Provide pre-award assistance in the development of realistic budgets, accurate completion of forms.
20% - Essential - Rules Assessment: Assess pre-award proposal processes and recommends revisions to the procedures and rules administered by CALFS and Clemson University
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Bachelor's Degree - business, personnel, grant-in-aid or public administration experience.
Work Experience 5+ years
PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:
Education - Master's Degree - Research Administration
RESPONSIBILITIES

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
Supervises Work of Others - Supervises work of others and may offer recommendations for hiring, termination and pay adjustments but does not have responsibility for making these decisions.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Budget Responsibilities - No fiscal responsibility for the department's budget.
PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
50% - Sit (stationary position) for prolonged period
30% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Anticipated Salary Range: $53,300 - $67,500
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.
ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL
Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
