JOB SUMMARY:
Utilizes computer programs and processes to manage data and pre-matriculation immunization requirements. Schedules appointments by walk-in or telephone for Student Health Service Providers. Updates demographics, enters insurance information, and verifies student eligibility. Authorizes claim tickets and collects co-pays. Performs other duties as assigned.
JOB DUTIES:
30% - Essential - Medical Clearance Processing: Completes medical clearance processing both manually and electronically to comply with pre-matriculation requirements. Performs acknowledgement, verification and data entry of immunization documentation required by the University that is received by fax, mail, or image upload. Sends notifications of noncompliance to students via secure message and email. Staffs student orientations and works with other departments and programs on campus to ensure immunization requirements are communicated to new, and transfer students.
30% - Essential - Registration: Performs check in and scheduling functions for patients/clients of Student Health Services (SHS). Updates patient/ client demographics, scans and enters insurance card information into PnC. Verifies student eligibility in I-Roar and adjusts student account to reflect fee paid/ non-fee paid status and counsels accordingly. Collect patient co-payments at time of service. Manage front desk operations to ensure efficient patient flow and positive client experience. Communicates effectively with patients, visitors and staff to ensure excellent customer service.
15% - Essential - Information Management: Under the direction of the Health Information Manager ensures that only authorized individuals have access to the patient/ client health information and that all release of information requests are in compliance with HIPAA and FERPA guidelines. Maintains accurate documentation of record requests to and from Student Health Services. Assists with handling of correspondence between patients, visitors, and staff to ensure proper handling of Protected Health Information (PHI).
15% - Essential - Revenue Cycle/Ticket Authorization: Reviews, verifies, and approves billing tickets for accuracy and completeness prior to submission. Identifies and resolves discrepancies to maintain revenue cycle integrity. Collaborates with the billing staff to ensure compliance with established billing procedures, payer requirements, and organizational policies.
10% - Essential - Records Compliance: Analyzes and reviews health records for completeness and accuracy. Receives, scans and distributes confidential information in a timely manner to comply with standards of the Joint Commission and other regulatory bodies. Helps resolve any issues with missing or misplaced documentation. Prepares requests for accounting of disclosures, restrictions, and amendments to the record.
MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:
Education - High School or Equivalent and experience in records management, information systems, or office administration.

Education - 1st Associate's Degree - Health Information

COMPENSATION INFORMATION
Expected Salary Range ($ 33,800.00 - $ 39,000.00)
Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
