JOB SUMMARY:

 

Performs HVAC-R duties requiring both routine and advanced levels of professional skill and technical knowledge. Provides training and mentorship to less experienced HVAC-R employees. Performs preventative and corrective HVAC-R maintenance on building systems in accordance with department procedures and applicable codes and laws. Performs other duties as required.

JOB DUTIES:

 

85% - Essential - HVAC-R Systems Maintenance: Performs installation, diagnostics, repair, and maintenance of residential, commercial, industrial and refrigeration-based HVAC-R systems. Trouble shoots and repairs controls systems and associated equipment. Identifies maintenance risks on equipment. Interprets blueprints used to install heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment in University Buildings for trouble shooting and or review.
10% - Essential - Training and Mentorship: Leads, guides, and/or trains other HVAC-R technicians in applicable procedures and techniques. Completes training and testing to obtain and/or maintain applicable licensing or certifications.
5% - Essential - Safety: Promotes a safe workplace and safe work practices. Complies with all applicable OSHA safety mandates and enforcement of University LOTO policy. Complies with all EPA/DHEC rules. Promotes positive and productive relationships within and between shops.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  High School Diploma or Equivalent and experience in the installation and maintenance of HVAC systems or in the operation and maintenance of HVAC mechanical and building control systems.
Licenses - Drivers License Class D normal < 26,000

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Vocational or Technical Training - Trade School Diploma; MASC Master Certificate or Reciprocal Equivalent.
Work Experience: 8+ years

WORK SCHEDULE:

 

Monday-Friday, 8:00 am - 4:00pm. Standard Hours: 40

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: ($ 45,530.00 - $ 60,000.00)
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Essential Level 1 employee
Required to respond during an emergency closure or modified operations in order to provide the University's initial response to the emergency situation, including the execution of mission essential functions. Some positions in this category may be required to work remotely or be on-call.
