DIRECTOR OF DEVELOPMENT - WILBUR O. AND ANN POWERS COLLEGE OF BUSINESS

JOB SUMMARY:

 

Clemson University's University Development Team (UDT) within the Advancement Division is looking for a Director of Development - Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business to fulfill the following duties:

  • Serves as Director of Development within the Advancement Division and the University Development Team (UDT). 
  • Qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards philanthropic major gifts ($50K+) from assigned Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business alumni and friends.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

85% - Essential - Fundraising: 
Manages a dynamic portfolio of prospects/donors who have the capacity to make a philanthropic major gift of $50,000 or more. Qualifies, cultivates, solicits and stewards gifts from Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business alumni and friends through a combination of in-person and virtual donor visits and making major gift solicitations. Performance as measured against these goals will be evaluated annually. Executes strategic cultivation and solicitation plans tailored to individual donor's interests, capacity, and philanthropic priorities. Raises a minimum of $1,250,000 on an annual basis with the goals for subsequent years determined in conjunction with the Senior Director.
15% - Essential - Strategic Collaboration & Partnerships: 
Executes collaboration efforts across all areas of Advancement to maximize fundraising effectiveness. Articulates Clemson and the Wilbur O. and Ann Powers College of Business' mission and vision to inspire constituents and forge strategic partnerships & investments within your donor portfolio.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Bachelor's Degree

Work Experience -  3+ Years related experience in alumni engagement, fundraising, business development, sales, journalism or communications. Preferred experience in front line fundraising with demonstrated ability to close six-figure gifts. 

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors Budget - Does not provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may oversee fund allocation.

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

 

  50% - Walk or move about
  50% - Communicate, converse, give direction, express oneself

WORKING CONDITIONS:

 

  60% - Overnight Travel

WORK SCHEDULE:

 

Standard Hours: 37.5/week

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: $80,000.00 - $90,000.00

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
