JOB SUMMARY:

 

Clemson University's Advancement Division is looking for a Director of Development and Unit Lead for the Division of Student Affairs to fulfill the following duties:

  • Serves as Director of Development and Unit Lead for Division of Student Affairs within the Advancement Division. 
     
  • Provides strategy, leadership, direction, coordination and management of all levels of giving for assigned units/areas and initiatives that fall outside of an academic college. 
     
  • Develops, in collaboration with unit leadership, priorities and philanthropic strategy in accordance with the Clemson Elevate strategic plan. 
     
  • Implements the strategy and inspires stakeholder support of priorities to fulfill the mission of the programs and initiatives. 
     
  • Communicates, collaborates and coordinates between the assigned units/areas and Advancement, as well as creating productive partnerships with other college/unit fundraising programs. 
     
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

 

50% - Essential - Fundraising: 
Manages a dynamic pool of up to 150 major gift prospects who have the capacity to make gifts in the $50,000 to $1M+ range. Identifies, cultivates, solicits, and stewards gifts from alumni, parents and friends through 15-17 visits each month. Raises a minimum of $1M annually. Coordinates cultivation, engagement and stewardship opportunities for the Division of Student Affairs and other assigned University-wide initiatives.
30% - Essential - Unit Leadership and Engagement: 
Establishes a strong partnership with key leaders within the Division of Student Affairs and other assigned units/areas. Develops, in collaboration with leadership, priorities and philanthropic strategy in accordance with the Clemson Elevate strategic plan and the assigned units'/areas' mission. Actively engages leaders in the cultivation, engagement and stewardship efforts of top donors and prospects. Serves as the primary liaison and mission critical link between the Advancement Division and the assigned units/areas.
10% - Essential - Strategic Collaboration and Facilitation: 
Utilizes relationships with key leaders to advance the philanthropic strategies and priorities of the assigned units/areas and exceed the annual fundraising goals. Facilitates collaboration with team members across the Advancement Division, including Principal gifts, Planned Giving, Corporate and Foundation Relations, Annual Giving, Alumni Relations, and others who are essential to the fundraising efforts. Participates in the University Development Team's Unit Lead cohort.
10% - Essential - Campaign Pillar Support:
In accordance to Clemson's Fiercely Forward campaign, plays a pivotal role in advancing the campaign's pillars, which include fiercely supporting students, the Clemson experience, exceptional faculty and graduate education, state-of-the-art facilities, and Clemson's future; Engages with donors and alumni to secure major gifts that will help Clemson to maintain its position as a world-class institution and to continue making a positive impact on the world; Manages the Student Affairs Campaign Cabinet.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

 

Education -  Bachelor's Degree - Related experience in fundraising and development in higher education


Work Experience - 3+ years

RESPONSIBILITIES

 

JOB KNOWLEDGE
Firm Job Knowledge - Firm working knowledge of concepts, practices and procedures and ability to use in varied situations
SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
No Supervisory Duties - Not responsible for supervising employees.
BUDGETARY RESPONSIBILITIES
Monitors Budget - Does not provide input but is responsible for monitoring the departmental budget and may oversee fund allocation.

Standard Hours: 37.5/week

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

 

Expected Salary Range: $ 78.496.00 - $ 105,000.00
 

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

 

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
