JOB SUMMARY:

Plans, designs and implements a variety of initiatives related to advising, counseling, recruitment, and retention for students within the College of Behavioral, Social and Health Sciences (CBSHS). Serves as a primary contact for faculty, staff current and prospective students within assigned majors, providing guidance and support on academic programs, policies, and student success initiatives. Performs other duties as assigned.

JOB DUTIES:

70% - Essential - Advising: 

Plans, implements, and evaluates advising and counseling activities for students in designated CBSHS undergraduate program(s), including admissions procedures, registration and course selection, academic progress, policy interpretation, career exploration, transfer credit evaluation, course substitutions, change of major, and personal development. Coordinates and implements new student orientation programs for incoming freshmen and transfer students. Provides supportive counseling for a wide range of student concerns and refers students to appropriate campus resources as needed. Serves as liaison for parent inquiries in accordance with federal guidelines. Advises students on curriculum requirements and directs registration activities for assigned advisees, including the evaluation and application of transfer credit from other colleges and universities. Monitors enrollment with assigned majors in accordance with departmental guidelines and capacities and provides accurate information.
15% - Essential - Retention & Outreach: 
Plans, implements, and evaluates activities designed to support the retention of students within the assigned CBSHS majors. Serves as the primary point of contact for students as well as departmental faculty for assigned major(s). Participates in the Success Matters initiative through the Academic Success Center and in activities sponsored by the Bridge to Clemson program for assigned majors. Assists with the development of departmental brochures, materials, college displays, photos, publications, and related communications. Monitors and coordinates needed website updates for the advising center and assigned department(s).
15% - Essential - Recruitment:
Recruits prospective students to the College and assigned majors by providing accurate information regarding the admissions process, degree requirements, career opportunities, and academic programs while serving as a primary contact for prospective high school students interested in assigned majors. Participates in recruitment activities and special events for the University, College, and Academic Advising Center. Coordinates with internal and external partners in the planning and implementation of special events and outreach initiatives.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

Education -  1st Bachelor's Degree - Experience in student services programs.

PREFERRED REQUIREMENTS:

Education -  1st Master's Degree - Student Affairs or related

WORK SCHEDULE:

Standard Hrs: 37.5; Monday-Friday, 8am-4:30pm

COMPENSATION INFORMATION

Band: G07 (expected range: $ 39,300.00 - $ 53,633.70)

Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.

ESSENTIAL PERSONNEL LEVEL

Normal Operations
Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
