Assistant / Associate Professor - Mechanical Engineering

The Department of Mechanical Engineering at Clemson University invites applicants for a tenure-track faculty position at the rank of Assistant or Associate Professor, to begin August 2022. 

The Department has a particular interest in applicants in the areas of dynamics, controls, system theory, data science, AI, robotics, and machine learning. This position is a part of college-wide AI cluster and preference will be given to applicants with expertise in artificial intelligence, machine learning, data-driven decision making, with transformative use of data-analytics tools to applications involving autonomy, robotics, and large-scale complex systems.

The Department and College are committed to fostering interdisciplinary research that can address grand challenges facing our society and innovate through a balance of fundamental and translational research. Collaboration with entities within and outside engineering and science is also highly encouraged.  Applicants with exceptional qualifications will also be considered for appointments at the Full Professor level.

The Department has 32 tenure-track or tenured faculty members actively involved in research, teaching, and service endeavors. More than one third of the current faculty members have received prestigious early-career grant awards. The Department occupies a modern research and education facility on the main Clemson, SC campus and has an enrollment of over 900 undergraduate and 160 graduate students.
