Reporting to the Director of the Adobe Studio and Makerspace (ASM), this position manages the daily operations of the ASM; trains, mentors, and supervises 8-12 student assistants; assists and teaches patrons on a range of multimedia and fabrication topics; oversees safety plans, inventory, and educational materials; troubleshoots and fixes technology equipment; participates in outreach activities to market ASM to the university community; and other duties as assigned.



30% - Essential - Technology and Communication: Manages and maintains studio and maker spaces (video studio, audio studio, computer lab, 3D printers, fabric equipment, other fabrication equipment), in collaboration with the Director and other staff. Troubleshoots and fixes technology equipment. Develops and provides information about events, services, equipment, and other resources available at the ASM. Develops and maintains educational materials for all equipment. Maintains website and social media presence. Recommends changes in policies and procedures to improve programs.

30% - Essential - Supervision and Training: Trains, mentors, and supervises student assistants for the ASM and associated facilities. Maintains training documents and provides continuous feedback on student assistant performance.  Ensures that student assistants have proper equipment, software, training, and tools. Communicates with the Director of ASM regarding personnel issues.

30% - Essential - Customer Service: Manages daily operations of the ASM, and associated facilities, including basic reference, scheduling, technology, equipment, and maintenance. Provides and promotes courteous and efficient services. Establishes policies and procedures in conjunction with Director of the ASM, and recommends changes in policies and procedures to improve programs.  Researches and follows up on patron concerns and issues. Ensures and promotes security of all facilities and promptly reports issues and concerns to proper authorities.  Communicates hours, policies, and services and provides data as needed for assessment. Assists in the development and monitoring of budgetary matters. Communicates with supervisor and other parties in a timely manner.

10% - Essential - Compliance, Safety, and Training: Complies with University, State, and Federal regulations. Maintains a safe and secure environment. Designs and completes an individual plan of professional development activities that supports the other job duties through a combination of training, courses, conferences, or participation in professional organizations.



Education - Bachelor's Degree - Media arts, photojournalism, information services or education; or, a high school diploma and journey-level work experience in a related field. 

Work Experience - 1+ years of entry-level work experience in a related field. 



Experience - 1+ years of relevant library and/or teaching experience. Demonstrated proficiency with one or more areas of contemporary creative technology software and hardware, including: audio production, video production, graphic skills and a high degree of professionalism and initiative.

Standard Hours: 37.5



Anticipated Hiring Range: $37,900.00 - $55,000.00


Salary is dependent upon several factors including, but not limited to, a candidate's previous experience, knowledge, skills and performance in accordance with Clemson's compensation guidelines.




Normal Operations

Required to follow emergency facility closure directives, and not normally expected work on-site during emergency situations.
